Latest TV: Celebrating women in front of and behind the camera
As Latest TV broadcasts daily news, sports and what’s on, we’re always ahead of the game in knowing what’s happening in the city.
A new gem happening in year is the Women over 50 Film Festival. Founded by Nuala O’Sullivan and now in its third year, WOFFF celebrates women behind the camera and on screen where women over 50 are running the show and as Nuala describes “are at at the heart of what is on film whether as a writer, director, producer, actor, editor etc”.
Drama Juror Jemma Churchill has praised the festival for “bringing more and more older women to the fore. We are shown their talents, their ingenuity, their creativity and, yes, their extraordinary beauty.”
“ Women over 50 are eligible to submit short films ”
There is also an all-female panel event on women in film and a practical workshop for anyone who’d like to have a go at filmmaking but doesn’t quite know where to start.
Women over 50 are eligible to submit short films for the categories of drama, documentary, animation and more. The festival caters for amateurs and professionals alike, and Greta Scacchi is a supporter of the event.
