Brighton Kemptown MP calls for action in crime ridden Peacehaven
Brighton Kemptown MP Lloyd russell-Moyle has demanded the Home Secretary review a decision to close a police station in a town in his constituency which is suffering a crime spree.
Residents of Peacehaven had admitted to feeling unsafe going out at night in the town due to the lack of police force and increased levels of crime. and now Mr Russel-Moyle, who won his seat from Simon Kirby at the last election, has insisted that Home Secretary Amber Rudd and Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne review the decision to close the town’s police station in September of last year. Mr Russell-Moyle said:
“Everyone has the right to feel safe in their homes and communities.
“Since this government was elected in 2010 we have lost 550 officers across Sussex, this is clearly become untenable.
“I will also be asking for a meeting with local Police to discuss what plans they have to curb this latest anti-social behaviour with the aim of working with them and the community to develop better strategies.”
And we took to the streets of peacehaven to find out what residents really thought of the crime increase.
