Andy Garth: It’s auction time again
As you must be very aware by now, every two months, Brighton and Hove Stuff (that’s me) and Step Back In Time (that’s Postcard Man Robert Jeeves) hold an auction of all things Brighton Hove and Sussex. The next one is Tuesday 26th September at The Aldrington Church Hall, Glebe Villas, Hove, with doors open at 6.30pm for viewing with a start time of 8pm (it takes about two hours).
What has become so much fun over the past three years of holding these sales, is the vastly different array of lots that are sold, and this month is no exception.
The photos this week show some original sales brochures from the 1930s of two blocks in Preston Park Avenue and are in superb condition, each with a guide of £10.
As usual we have a great selection of original photos covering all areas of the city and county, from the 1920s through to the 1980s showing various buildings and places as they were.

The second photo, from 1975, shows the part old and part new of the Freshfield Trading Estate (built on the site of Kemp Town railway station) under construction, with the old buildings still there on Eastern Road (which reminded me of one of my previous columns about the building works at the hospital as it seems Eastern Road has been constantly under construction for many a year).
If you would like a catalogue for the sale please email me.
If you would like to view any items they are all at Robert’s shop Step Back in Time on 36 Queens Road, Brighton (open 7 days a week).
Next week I will show you more lots.
