Mr Jukes

Having led indie band Bombay Bicycle Club for 10 years, Jack Steadman has reinvented himself as a funkateer and produced a great guest star-filled album. A sold out Concorde was the first date of the Mr Jukes tour and the nine piece band, led by the bass-playing vocalist, skillfully recreated the Acid Jazz sound with the trio of backing vocalists proving a great substitute for the absent Charles Bradley et al. The set was made up of perfectly executed mid-tempo soul with some well-chosen funked up covers and the exuberant crowd were rewarded with a sax-heavy, celestially sung encore of ‘Your Love’.
