Andy Garth: New stuff comes the way of Andy Garth
This week two fabulous items have made their way into the shop.
The first one is a battered life saving ring from apparently Saltdean Lido with the date of 1938 on it. Now I know there are reproductions out there, and I am still 50/50 on the authenticity of this, but it is almost too bashed up and woodwormed to be a chic piece of retro wall furniture. If anyone out there can help prove one way or the other I would be glad to hear from them. Still looks great though!
West Piers’ Summer Season Show in 1966 with the star being Bill Pertwee
The second photo shows something that is very much genuine and was from the West Piers’ Summer Season Show in 1966, with the star being Bill Pertwee (Mr Hodges, the Air Warden from TV show Dads Army) and a fine supporting cast made up of the West Pier Players – who provide regular entertainment in the West Pier Theatre. It’s also signed by the star. I have had it mounted and it will be in the window of the shop for sale by the time this is published.
Next week I will be reporting on the auction results.
If you think you might have anything unusual or quirky like the items shown today then pop in the shop or email me.
