Mark Watson – MW
A delicate flower with an unstoppable curiosity and ingenuity, is how Mark Watson comes across at his Worthing stop of the tour of places beginning with his own initials. From chatting to the cabbie about his current location en route, to doing his best to survive on a television programme which abandoned him on an island with other celebrities and few resources – it’s all driven by an unrepentant, “what would happen if…” with a funny and also kind tone to his delivery.
An enjoyable gold mine of material was found in the second half of the show with answers submitted by the audience voicing thier own quirks. Watson’s genuine curiosity exposed his natural wit and askew-charming engagement with others that kept the show on an enjoyably intimate edge between performer and audience.
Being pleasant and non-shocking doesn’t grab headlines. But it does make Mark Watson a treat in a world determined to burn.
