Review: Ed Byrne; Spoiler Alert!

Ed Byrne’s show is named ‘Spoiler Alert!’, not because he spends the entire evening giving away the endings of films, rather it focuses on how spoiled we all are, especially his two young sons. It’s an evening full of personable, bankable observational comedy. He connects with a middle-aged, middle class audience who get his references which are smart, but so highbrow that they alienate. With oodles of well-crafted material, he uses his cheeky chappie persona to poke fun at the middle classes from the point of view of one who has only recently arrived, so he gets away with it.
