Lord Huron + Flyte

Building up to third album Vide Noir later this year, L.A folk-pop purveyors Lord Huron set out their stall for world conquest with this set of unabashedly would-be Springsteen anthems and gentler Americana strolls. Supporting, Londoners Flyte dabbled in sixties-style vocal harmonies and sweetly E.L.O cheese, which occasionally soared (the Beatles-esque ‘Faithless’) though too often felt frankly insipid. The headliners’ show featured many highpoints though, notably the brilliantly desert-rock shuffle of ‘The World Ender’ and Arcade Fire-esque ‘Meet Me In The Woods’. Still, between the big-hitters and quality southern atmospherics, too much forgettable filler left much of the set, well, forgotten.
