Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox

No one could be fail to be entertained by this show. A six-piece band was joined by a rotating line up of singers that delivered modern songs with, as they put it, a ‘vintage filter’. These kinds of mash-ups can be cheesy but such was the talent involved that this approach lifted the material, often surpassing the original recordings. Highlights included a relatively low-key rendition of Radiohead’s ‘No Surprises’ and a soaring version of Sia’s ‘Chandelier’. A minor quibble; the presentation could be slightly too slick and the night was most alive when the performers were loose.
