Tokio Myers

Religious visual imagery, smoke, flashing lights, howling sirens, arresting beats fused in to slower melodic piano harmonies. Classically trained pianist, Tokio Myers, defies boundaries. His performance and music captures beauty and raw violence. The show was surprisingly bold for a 2017 ‘Britains Got Talent’ winner. For the track ‘Baltimore’ – drums, symbols and a grand piano were set against a backdrop of gangs and police brutality. The shows message is one of love and hate, life and death. Robert Miles’ ‘Children’ was played off key, making it disarming. It appears Tokio surrendered his own – sometimes harrowing – life experiences in to this unique and artistic musical mashup. The result is a memorable and spectacular show.
