Latest TV Sneak Peaks: Step back in time… quiz in the future
Psst! Think you know all about the history of Brighton & Hove? So, you’ve gone on the Ghost Walk, taken the Notorious Women walking tour, and took a guided walk around the Royal Pavilion when the family were visiting. But there’s more…
This month LatestTV started filming the brand new local history quiz series Our Town, packed full of facts big and small, and with more than a few revelations sprung on the guests. As the city the Prince Regent chose as his party-base, you know absolutely anything could turn up.
The format is simple: Andy Garth – proprietor of Brighton & Hove Stuff on Western Road, keeper of the Argus Archives (dating back from the 1920s) and regular Latest columnist steps up as host of the proceedings. A regular mine of Brighton & Hove anecdotes, stories and fun facts, he’ll be keeping the players on their toes!
As the city the Prince Regent chose as his party-base, you know absolutely anything could turn up
Andy is joined by four different guests for each show, each of which bring an item from the city’s past with them – which could be anything from a piece of Madeira Terrace to a classic joke of Max Miller’s. Points are given for being informative, funny, macabre or just plain captivating about our town’s quaint and murky past.
Expect short films having a nosey around the likes of the back passageways of the Clocktower, the Aquarium and inside Kemptown Tunnel, as well as newspaper headlines uncovering scandals and the downright absurd. Plus the family histories of the guests come under scrutiny too – Our Town is not afraid to get extremely up close and personal.
Keep an eye out in our LatestTV listings in June for the first episode of Our Town, and the inside scoop on forgotten buildings, bygone sayings, and what might have surprisingly endured.
