Blaas (Blow)

Blaas is the stuff of festivals, a strange, challenging and fascinating event that bridges weirdly the gap between fine art and performance. Here it is done well, billowing forms grow and invade the audience, invading the space, coaxing and threatening, beautiful one moment and then ominous and scary.

I will not describe what happens next, far better to leave that element of surprise but I will merely add that this is an exploration of spaces, internal and external, a journey in which one has to become involved, comforting at times, edgy at others but never less than fascinating and all consuming and ultimately delivering you to a place you would not expect.

Beautifully put together, confident and bizarre, this is the sort of work we see coming out of Europe rather than being home grown and although a worthwhile experience it does feel a little dated – not however a problem when done this well.
