Venice – BREMF Community Choir

BREMF triumphs again! ‘Beatus vir’, Monteverdi’s glorious motet, rang out over a capacity audience. The 50+ enthusiastic voices, well trained by conductor Andrew Robinson, rose to the challenges of this complex music. They were brilliantly supported by Istante: Claudia Norz and Christiane Eidsten Dahl (violins), Kate Conway (cello) and harpsichordist Satoko Doi Luck, a great champion of BREMF. They brought an elegant calm to the programme with two sonatas by Dario Castello. Buffo diversions came courtesy of some audacious Commedia del Arte players. A new BREMF audience has just discovered Monteverdi’s golden era. Could Early Music ever be more popular?
