Latest TV on the ‘Young City Reads at Home’ Reading Campaign in Brighton

Mark Walker speaks to Sarah Hutchings, Director of Young City Reads. Young City Reads, the Brighton based reading project which exists to inspire children to read for pleasure, launches ‘Young City Reads at Home’ today. The aim is to extend the reach of the project and offer families across Sussex, and beyond, a reading challenge they can complete together while the schools remain closed, in their own time, and at their own pace. More than 3,000 children were signed up to take part in Young City Reads before lockdown, and when schools closed the organisers decided to make all the materials available online. After 10 weeks of Malamander themed activities, the project concluded on 21st May with a special virtual event with this year’s author: Thomas Taylor. Mark finds out more.
