Comedy, Ballet, The Fab Four & Drop Dead Gorgeous Cheryl Hole

It’s full on panto season from here on in and we have certainly given you plenty of options for that over the past few weeks, so let’s take a look at some alternative options for the Grinches out there. Sandwiched between all the festive frivolity at Theatre Royal Brighton is the now legendary BAFTA and Perrier award winning comedian Dylan Moran headlining this year’s incredible Live at Christmas line-up. Prepare to be floored as he takes you on a joyously furious romp through the frustration and follies of modern life. Joining Dylan is an astounding bill with Last Leg regular and Live At The Apollo star Rosie Jones, breakout Taskmaster star Mike Wozniak, multi-award winning Celya AB and podcast hero and all-round vibe magnet John Robins as host. Live at Christmas is for one night only on Sunday the 12th of December at Theatre Royal Brighton.

If you like your turkey preceded by a touch of class however you might want to hop over to Worthing’s Connaught Theatre for a bit of ballet and perhaps the two greatest of all romantic ballets live on stage. The Nutcracker is one of the jewels of Tchaikovsky’s repertoire. This original Christmas story is based on The Nutcracker and the Mouse King written by E.T.A. Hoffmann. It tells the story of Marie, a sad little girl, whose godfather, Drosselmeier, gives her a Nutcracker doll as a present on Christmas Eve. In her lively imagination it turns into a prince and the magic starts. That’s the matinee performance from Crown Ballet and is followed in the evening by Swan Lake, another of Tchaikovsky’s great works, there are so many and these feature some of ballet’s most memorable music and breath-taking dance.

Crown Ballet are at the Connaught Theatre on Saturday the 3rd of December at 2.30 and again at 7.30 the same day, it’s just too too delightful, see what I did there?

Tickets for Crown Ballet available here.

Now what’s not to love about a bit of the Fab Four, well of course with only the fab two remaining and little chance of them ever reforming why not satisfy that need with the brilliant Bootleg Beatles, From Love Me Do to Let It Be, from the Cavern to the Apple rooftop, from black and white to psychedelic technicolour, the world’s Premier Beatles tribute band, The Bootleg Beatles return to Brighton to take you on a whistle-stop journey through the most vibrant revolutionary and divisive decade of all -the Swinging Sixties. If you missed them at PierFest on Brighton Palace pier then now’s a chance to catch them at The Brighton Centre. It’s all there… the iconic mop tops and the Chelsea boots, the Sgt Pepper tunics and the Chesterfield suits. Each tiny vocal inflection and each witty Beatles quip, all meticulously studied on this Magical Mystery trip.

The Bootleg Beatles are at The Brighton Centre on Sunday the 18th of December.

Tickets for the Bootleg Beatles available here.
