Joe Absolom & The Shawshank Redemption

The Shawshank Redemption is up there globally as one of the best and most popular films ever made. Stephen King’s novella is a story of hope against all the odds. Joe Absolom is best know for his TV roles, starting as a teenager in shows like The Bill, where he played petty criminals, to being cast in Eastenders at 18 where he soon became a key member of the cast with strong story lines, one of which saw him wrongly accused as a murdered. More recently he has been a lead character in TV success Doc Martin.

In this interview, he talks candidly about acting, his TV roles and the fact that he has little stage experience but is fully embracing the role of Andy Dufresne, another man wrongly accused and this time found guilty of murder.

The Shawshank Redemption is at Theatre Royal Brighton from 23 January. Tickets can be found here.
