UKRAINIAN FILM SUNDAY

This Sunday 17th, Nataliya Valda, General director of the PTAKH Ukraine International Film Festival in UK, presents the main feature, I Was Not Born for War plus two short films from Ukraine; Ukrainian Tears and The Wooden Wedding. Showing from 6pm.

I WAS NOT BORN FOR WAR

Kostya Oborin, a man who endured hell during the war, and did not lose his faith in people. And now with fortitude he helps people with disabilities bring back their thirst for life. Oborin prepares two ATO veterans for a parachute jump. They’ve never skydived, but Oborin persuades them to jump as a method of rehabilitation and to broaden their minds. The training is not easy, but will it be worth it?

To Laugh Again covers the events surrounding the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. It contains interviews with famous personalities of the Ukrainian film and showbusiness, in which they reveal how the war has affected their everyday and creative lives.

THE WOODEN WEDDING

Director: Yuliia Kokodynska (Orlenko), 2022

A young woman prepares a romantic dinner with champagne and candles to celebrate the fifth wedding anniversary with her husband. But suddenly their cheerful conversation is interrupted by the sounds of sirens and their bursts of laughter by the explosions of bombs.
