LATEST TV PROJECT – STUDENT TV

Latest TV recently hosted a group of students from Italy as part of their Latest TV project to show them the inner workings of a TV studio and to let them have a go at working the camera and presenting. Here, one of the students shares her experience of the day.

My name is Anastasia Quattrocchi and I’m going to share with you my experience, here in Brighton, at the “Latest TV Project”.

I am a high school student at “Liceo Linguistico E. Majorana”, in Guidonia- Rome. I attend year four and I study English, Spanish and French as foreign languages. My class is a Cambridge section so we study English more than usual, and this is one of the many reasons why I’m really grateful to the school for this opportunity, and also to my parents, as always. For those who don’t know, the “Latest TV Project” Is a school program for us students which foresees the use of English – as, in my case, I’m not a native speaker – to produce a video, working  in groups.

Me and my friend Martin Zuccaro chose to be the presenters of the whole program, so we invented the name of the “company” (A.M News) and pretended to work for it. We showed our classmates’ projects and introduced them one by one. We covered different topics: music, globalisation, stereotypes and football.

I have to say that I had a great time while recording. It was fun and well organized: I enjoyed every single second of my stay in the studio, especially when It happened to watch my friends’ works.

Some of them went to the streets interviewing casual people about the topic they had chosen. Other stayed in the studio helping with the audio, the cameras… still others were next to the director editing videos and pictures. If I have to describe this experience in three adjectives, they would be: engaging; stimulating; disparate.

I’ll tell you why.

I was involved all the time in this project, also when It wasn’t my turn. It was fascinating watching others working so peacefully and full of joy, and that’s what stimulated me to “give It all my heart”.

I had been in front of a camera before, but It can’t be related to the “Latest TV Project”. It was something new, and those hours will remain engraved in my happy memories.

The opportunity we have been given was huge, and I couldn’t be more thankful.  I realized that I really enjoy standing in front of a camera… Maybe one day it will be my profession. Who knows? Life Is unpredictable.
