Sherlock Holmes – A Study in Fear!
With Holmes red hot on TV, this three-man show could appear flat, but the zip was all in the text and confident delivery. It was heavy with information yet these professionals conveyed every word, every nuance, and spiked it with humour. Their timing was flawless. Watson was predictably irritating until his “I’m a soldier, Holmes…” speech gave the character stature.
This new production would make an excellent radio play. It relies on sound effects and the set adds little. So why put it on the stage? Well, go along to the Connaught and enjoy the inventive twist in the last scene.
