Brighton school for Alexander
Louise Michel talks to Suzie Sanderson
Suzie and her husband, Chris, are internationally renowned teachers of Alexander, and have taught 40,000 sessions. They offer practitioner training at their beautiful Georgian home in Kemp Town, and run one of the most successful private practices in the country. Suzie says “Anybody of any age can learn Alexander.”
Why become a practitioner? Sarah Eddy, STOMP cast member affirms; “This course is brilliant.” Angela East, cellist, says; “For anyone who is considering training, I would say: ‘Do not hesitate’.”
People who come in with physical complaints are often surprised by the lift in spirits. Julia Bishop, an international violinist says; “It seems that getting rid of aches and pains is only the beginning, it’s the psychological stuff which amazes me. A total liberation.” The Brighton School offers MSTAT qualification, running during school terms. Suzie tells me that most of their students are now in private practise, explaining how professionals from a variety of backgrounds have been inspired to retrain.
“One of the advantages of being a practitioner is you only need a table, you can teach anywhere in the world, and have an income post-retirement!” she beams. “It’s all about liberating people in mind, body and spirit.”
The school offers solutions to a wide range of aches and pains and has private practices in Brighton, Reigate and Crawley.
