Letters Of Love

For Valentine’s weekend, love was in the air in its many manifestations with the first of two nights dedicated to the agony and ecstasy de l’amour. An evening of music and monologues was expertly compiled and directed by Sarah Williams with such disparate characters as unabashed romantic Keats, recently bereaved Katherine Hepburn and less-famous wartime lovers’ correspondences performed with panache and emotional gravitas by the ensemble. Joseph Bentley stood out with an impishly comedic performance of E.B. White’s dog’s letter to his pregnant wife. The night ended as joyfully as it began with a classic from the great American songbook.
