Jazz Meets Jive

Maybe it was the evening’s cold weather but it took a while for the opening act ‘The Jazz Aces’ to warm the audience up. Eventually the five-piece, clad in bright yellow traditional zoot suits, whipped the crowd up in time for British jazz legend Kenny Ball and the latest incarnation of his ‘Jazzmen’. The band kept the energy going by racing through some jazz/swing classics, including Kenny’s 60’s number one hit ‘Midnight In Moscow’, which enabled the immensely talented band to stretch their wings with some truly inspiring solo performances. He maybe an octogenarian, but Kenny can still swing.
