Brighton murder suspect due in court

A 22-year-old Brighton man was due in court today (Friday 4 May) charged with murder.

Joel Elliott was due to appear before magistrates charged with killing bricklayer Jeffrey Burrows, 40, at his home in Norfolk Square, Brighton.

Elliott, of North Road, Brighton, was the second man to be arrested during the investigation.

Another man who was arrested has been released on bail by Sussex Police until Tuesday 29 May.

Mr Burrows – known to his friends as Jeff, Humphrey or Big Humph – died last Sunday (29 April) after being stabbed.

He came from Dungannon in Northern Ireland and was widowed earlier this year when his wife Brione died of cancer.
