This week: Nova Festival organisers Katrina Larkin & Victoria Burns

Katrina: “What excited us when we created The Big Chill was the opportunity to bring art out of the galleries, and now with Nova we want to take that even further bringing together art from all platforms into the fields with art, music and performance. We’ve got some fantastic names involved – we’ve just added David Shrigley to a list which already contains Rankin, Hirst and Jake Chapman. There are some lovely additions to the food, kids and therapies offered including Disappear Dining, hot tubs, bliss domes, soulpads, Montezuma chocolate tastings and night-time storytelling for kids.”

Victoria: “Nova Festival is the realisation of a dream for Katrina and me. We are a bit in love with Nova and we are taking care of every little detail as well as the big plans… I think the most important thing about this event is that all this amazing content is just for 5,000 people. It’s not just about what content but about how it’s experienced that is important to us.”

Nova Festival is the lovechild of the two creative femmes du jour behind The Big Chill Festival, Katrina Larkin and Victoria Burns. Building on their solid reputation for providing festival goers with novel daytime fringe and after-hours entertainment, they have created a constant stream of scheduled and impromptu interactive art, theatre and literary exploration, set among secluded picnic spots, woodland copses and two valley stages, to a back drop of night-time illuminations, bonfires and live music. Nova Festival takes place 5–8 July, Bignor Park, Pulborough, West Sussex. www.novafestival.co.uk
