Dirt Daubers

Local boys The Curst Sons played a rip-roaring full-throttle set to promote their latest album of fiery murder ballads before the Shack Shakers’ hillbilly side-project cranked up the pace even more. JD Wilkes yodelled, growled and gurned his way through gospel, country and railroad songs (complete with harmonica train whistles) and Willie Curst Son was invited onstage to play washboard on ‘Trucks, Tractors And Trains’.

Even the jazz numbers, delivered divinely by Jessica, were propelled along like a runaway train by JD’s punk-rock-attack banjo and Mark Robertson’s slamming double bass. The breathtaking performance ended perfectly with a singalong ‘I’ll Fly Away’.
