Seasons Greetings

It’s Christmas and time for the family to get together, only this family have unresolved issues which keep rising to the surface despite each desperately trying to keep the Christmas spirit alive. Sacrilegious I may be but this is not one of Ayckbourn’s best plays, although there are moments of high humour. The nine characters all have equal importance and plot justification. As a consequence in explaining their back stories and how they integrate with each other, the first half is interminably long. Thankfully the second half is snappier. The cast and direction were absolutely fine but they had nothing to play with script wise.
