The Script

With their recent third album aptly named #3, The Script energised The Brighton Centre three times over. This number encapsulates the Southern Irish trio as three equals combining talents to create honest music for real people. Old and new songs intertwined throughout their set, with messages of a running theme that really connected with their audience. As the lead guitarist Mark Sheehan introduced ‘If You Could See Me Now’ he made ties with the audience saying; “you’ve probably experienced the same.” The down-to-earth relationship in terms of the performance and lyrics of The Script are what has made them so hugely popular to this current day, and the reason behind the wide spectrum of different people that attended this event.

Inbetween songs the band drew the audience in even further; Danny asked the crowd if he could call someone’s ex-boyfriend or girlfriend, ran to a girl to the front of the arena and dialled the number as ‘Nothing’ started to blare from the band. The lead singer continued to sing down the phone throughout the entire song with the message of the lyrics proving very apt for the situation. To end this whirlwind of a night, a flame was carried by the lead singer that lit up the entire stage, with ‘The Hall of Fame’, the band’s most successful single of all time, playing as the finale; The message of this song epitomising the bands disinterest in celebrity status or popularity, and promoting what was evident of the evening, their love for good music and their dedicated listeners.
