Teen

It may have been the unseasonal weather or the small turn out but lead singer Kristina ‘Teeny’ Lieberson seemed a little out-of-sorts at the New Yorkers’ Brighton debut. The obligatory semi-circle of space in front of the stage probably didn’t help but nevertheless the three sisters and pal stepped up and gave a spirited performance of adventurous shoegazey bubble gum indie pop. Heavy drums and shimmering cymbals drove the swirling 80s synths and effects-laden guitar, over which Teeny made good use of her broad vocal range, particularly on ‘Why Why Why’, and offered a fine line in sarcasm throughout an engaging set.
