The Martini Cocktail. Stirred Not Shaken.

If there was one take home fact from this event it was that James Bond got it wrong and a Martini must always be stirred. Actually there was lots to take away from this informative and engaging history of the Martini, including the correct process of making a Martini, the ingredients in different versions of it and the chance to compare three generations of the cocktail: its ancestor the Martinez, a prohibition-era wet Martini (more vermouth) and a typical modern, dry Martini. Hendrick’s UK Ambassador Duncan McRae kept it fun with film clips and amusing quotes from books and his obvious enthusiasm for the subject was infectious.
