Pelican

It’s not very often you get a band that paints a looming, subversive soundscape via the instruments they master. Pelican are one four-piece that create something wholly ethereal. Sometimes the purity and depth of music is overshadowed by vocals but Pelican have merged themselves with the heavy, progressive sounds they make without the need for a human voice, allowing it to spill out to their audience, amalgamating bodies within a wall of sound. The Haunt was definitely lost to Pelican last night, a combination of earthy coloured lighting and ridiculously warm weather carried each crescendo to new heights. A sit down on the beach to digest what had happened was definitely needed.
