Albion In The Community nominated in the Football Business Awards 2013

The charity attached to Brighton and Hove Albion has been named as a finalist at a prestigious awards ceremony held at Chelsea Football club.

Albion in the Community (AITC) has been nominated for two awards at the 2013 Football Business Awards. Now in their second year, the awards are designed to acknowledge the importance of business in football, whilst celebrating businesses serving the sport which have also worked towards a positive effect on the local community.

While AITC will be among big name clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal, the charity is one of only two football club community schemes across the entire country to be nominated in two different categories: ‘Best Community Scheme’ and ‘Best Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme’.

AITC is a multi award-winning, independent charity based at the American Express Community stadium in Brighton. Its aims are to utilise the unifying spirit of football to make a difference to people’s lives, not just in Sussex but around the world. Projects are as far-reaching and diverse as providing courses and coaching to over 16,000 4-15 year olds across the county, the Powerchair Football Club (who recently won the Championship division of the Wheelchair Football Association National League), to working with HIV prevention organisations in Africa and Indonesia.
