Sean Lock – Purple Van Man
Sean Lock was playful, daft and filled with impish mischief as he threw himself entirely into his show. Delivering up a mixture of inspired comic genius, everyman chuckles, and a few spots that simply brought a smile, Lock’s observational humour stepped away from the ‘man drawer’ of McIntytyre and to the joys of singing made up songs and classing ‘drinking’ as a hobby, making it all the more personal even as it drew us in to a world we recognised. With no support act, is was a long night for Lock as he presented us with around two hours – with one break – of skipping, dancing and wrangling tied up with the bow of that enormous grin, without wavering in energy once. An admirable and enjoyable feat to behold.
