The Treason Show
In their first outing of 2014 the Treason Show’s punchy mix of songs and sketches crackled with an infectious energy. Much of the topical material was so fresh it felt it could’ve been written five minutes ago, yet the tight script reflected a wealth of hard graft; with nail-bitingly outrĂ© topics offset by light-hearted silliness and sniper-like take-downs of our ruling class.
Regular performer Sophia Behn’s angelic singing voice was a delight, especially when pouring forth torrents of expletives and insults; guest Daniel Beales’ rambling Patrick Moore caricature had the entire audience in pieces; newbies Rebecca Probyn and Christophe Philipps shone in vivid character turns; and director Mark Brailsford gamely added full frontal nudity to the surprises on show, keeping the edge-of-your-seat factor right to the end.
