Aoife O’Donovan

To paraphrase Joni Mitchell (and this very song closed the show), I was cycling into town with a dark cloud above me, utterly rain-soaked, while Aoife O’Donovan herself sat in traffic so bad that it took her four hours to drive from London to her Brighton gig. Yet the unforced warmth of Aoife’s presence and vocals, both spoken and sung, reciprocated with the radiating appreciative glow of an adoring audience, made for a truly magical evening in the twinkling downstairs grotto at Latest MusicBar. It is always a treat to hear an artist solo and acoustic and Aoife shines in this setting, like a clear night-sky star.
