Zara McFarlane

The stage was framed with a stark red light, illuminating a traditional jazz line up of piano, saxophone, double bass and drums. The band kicked off and Zara McFarlane entered, recently heralded as the newly crowned British Queen of Jazz. Following on from her recent performance on Jools Holland’s Later, her two-part set showcased her highly acclaimed new album, ‘If You Knew Her’. One of the many highlights was her version of the Nina Simone classic, ‘Plain Gold Ring’.

Taking inspiration from jazz greats and reggae pioneers alike, Zara oozes sophisticated talent and delivers quality songs beautifully.
