Wired for sound advice

The Digital, Media & Tech Jobs Fair 2014 is here to offer careers advice, and a good job too

On Friday 6 June, Brighton Dome will be playing host to The Digital, Media & Tech Jobs Fair 2014, powered by Wired Sussex. Whether you’re looking to get a foot on the career ladder, a new opportunity or a change in career, the fair will put you face-to-face with key contacts in the local creative, digital and IT sector.

The event is the perfect opportunity for jobseekers to meet the growing pool of local creative, digital, media and tech (CDIT) employers. It will also give them access to information and expertise that can help them get started with their chosen career path or even get inspired to take it to the next level.

The event, which is closely linked to The Wired Sussex Intern Placement Programme, will be a combination of industry-led talks and panel sessions, training (including how to use social media to find work), CV advice, networking, and of course local CDIT companies looking to recruit.

Wired Sussex is a Brighton-based membership organisation for companies and freelancers operating in the creative, digital, media and technology sector in Sussex.

Funded by The Regional Growth Fund, the Intern Placement Programme is of significant importance to the Coast to Capital region, helping local businesses grow whilst developing talent. With over 150 placements on offer until Match 2015 skilled jobseekers can search for the right opportunity in their chosen career via www.wiredsussex.com/internships.

The Digital, Media & Tech Jobs Fair will also act as an opportunity to showcase the current internships on offer and provide further information about the scheme.

We are hoping for over a thousand people to pass through the door on the day, all eager to gain careers advice, sector specific information and to make face to face contact with potential new employers.

Caroline Morris, Talent Acquisition and Engagement Manager at Wired Sussex and Project Manager for the Intern Placement Programme adds: “These days jobseekers can’t just wait for work to find them or rely on a qualification being enough to open doors. They need to be proactive, demonstrate their interest and passions and get involved. Our Digital, Media & Tech Jobs Fair is the perfect and unique opportunity for jobseekers of all levels to grab with both hands and shouldn’t be missed.”

The event is for anyone that has ever been curious about what it’s like to have a digital, media or technology job, or if they want to take the first step, the next step, or even a big career leap. Entrance to the event is free, but to attend you will need to register online (go to www.wiredsussex.com).
