An Evening With Simon Weston

Despite the 94 operations, the battles with depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, borderline alcholism and being thrusted into the spotlight due to his horrific burns (suffered during the Falkland conflict), there is on abiding trait that has clearly seen Simon through these dark times: humour. It’s a particular gallows humour, self depricating, extremely black and un-p.c. in places. But it is an honest humour nonetheless. It’s a tribute to him that he sees the man who dropped the bomb (which in turn caused his injuries) as a friend. It’s a humbling experience being in his presence, and a credit to the nation he serves still.
