Sam Lee

British folk song collector Sam Lee is the 21st century version of Alan Lomax and Cecil Sharp, and was in town to promote new album ‘The Fade In Time’, comprised of ancient traveller songs. Each number came with its own history lesson as Sam detailed the region it originated from and the person that taught it to him. From Cornish Gipsy ballads to Aberdonian campfire songs, he has saved these hand-me-downs from extinction and given them a modern polish while retaining their roots. Tributes were paid to local singers, and the mesmerising performance ended with a stunning acapella encore.
