We’d like to say a huge GOOD LUCK to Felix Foreman – one of the JBPR family who gets married on Saturday 31 May to his lovely fiancée Daisy. Felix is pictured here with Big Brother’s Josie Gibson at Fatboy Slim’s incredible Big Beach Bootique at the Amex. Happy days!

Sunday 31 May sees some of the UK’s most exciting and unique urban and contemporary artists descend upon Brighton for the very first artrepublic Art Yard Sale at Jubilee Square on 31 May. All of the artists taking part in this exciting event will be running their very own stalls so this is a great opportunity to buy exclusive art direct from the artist. Artists will be creating bespoke works only available at the Yard Sale – for example Brighton based artist Eelus will be screen printing live on Jubilee Square and global hit Pure Evil will be running an art lotto where punters can buy limited edition scratch card prints in order to win his LAST MARILYN painting (pictured). We are extremely excited (and a little bit hungry) at the thought of AVM Curiosities, founded by food historian Tasha Marks, who will be displaying her amazing edible art creations including a chocolate edition of The Last Supper (pictured).

Fatboy Slim & Peter James

Last week we headed over the Big Beach Café on Hove Lagoon and caught up with Brighton legend and global superstar DJ Fatboy Slim (pictured here).

Officially one of nicest men on the planet, Norm will be supporting his adopted home city and the Pride cause by playing a live set at this years Brighton Pride, which takes place on Preston Park on Saturday 30 August. Another Brightonian doing great work in putting our city on the map is best-selling crime write Peter James – Peter and Norman’s worlds will collide this week as the author launches You Are Dead, the latest instalment in his wildly successful award-winning Detective Superintendent Roy Grace crime series. Set in Brighton, the eleventh DS Grace novel features Fatboy’s Big Beach Café as a location for one of it’s pivotal plot turns and so the author has chosen the DJ’s café for a launch event for You Are Dead which takes place on Tuesday 28 May. Norman and Peter will both be there in the flesh; so if you like your crime served up with a side order of ‘Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat’ get down to Hove Lagoon then. For those of you that miss this appearance, Peter will be doing further Sussex dates on his book tour; so visit www.peterjames.com/appearances for more information.
Fans of Fatboy can get tickets to see him rocking Preston Park for Brighton Pride at www.brighton-pride.org

Sir Peter Blake

Pupils of Middle Street School got a very special visit during their weekly art class last week by the Godfather of Pop Art Sir Peter Blake. Sir Peter, whose paintings adorn the walls of many celebrity art collections as well as designing the cover of the cerebral album by the Beatles – Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Sir Peter was invited by Lawrence Alkin – owner of Bond Street gallery artrepublic, who also sells Sir Peter’s work. It was chance conversation between Peter and Lawrence’s four year old daughter Miri that prompted the visit as Miri is a pupil at Middle Street School. Sir Peter spoke at length to the under 5’s about painting and drawing and then drew them a special picture for their art class wall
