Cook it: Sussex On A Plate

Rain certainly didn’t stop play at the Brighton & Hove Food & Drink Festival as award-winning chefs took to the stage

Twice a year now I gather with my foodie friends to create the Brighton & Hove Food & Drink Festival. I love it, I love the events, the dinners and most of all I love the Live Food Show which takes place for two days each festival in the main marquee on Hove Lawns.
I do similar shows in both London’s Fitzrovia and Kingston upon Thames and they too are great. But I am not well known there and here in Brighton I sense that I get so much support from both regular festival fans and of course from readers of Latest 7.

This August was no exception and as the drizzle persisted outside the tent I was delighted to see so many familiar faces in the audience and so many new ones too. Some of you come along and stay all day both days, some because there is delicious free food but mainly I think because you are fascinated to see what the very best local chefs are currently creating.
I use the word ‘creating’ because the word ‘cooking’ no longer seems to cover what they actually do. Brighton is riding high in the culinary world right now with so many of our local restaurants and chefs featuring in top restaurant lists and winning national awards. I’m proud to say that on the Live Food stage we have the very best of Sussex and beyond and this time was no exception.
