BREMF – ‘Conductus’ – The Three Medieval Tenors

Following Prof. Mark Everist’s lucid introduction to the ‘Conductus – The Forgotten Song of the Middle Ages’ in this afternoon’s workshop session, the Three Medieval Tenors (Rogers Covey-Crump, John Potter, Christopher O’Gorman) sang a varied selection of conductus works. This fascinating project from Southampton University is funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council. Even without programme notes or any further introductions this concert was enthralling. Their masterly precision, synchrony and musicality were a rare delight, taking us into a sound-world both remote and alluringly familiar. The spellbound audience and at least one early music nerd (me!) went home very happy.

CODA: BREMF continues next Saturday at the same venue with another workshop and concert of the works of Cipriano de Rore.
