Recent technical difficulties rectified & the first ever BA i360 wedding
Last week we were making headlines but for all the wrong reasons when the BA i360 had two ride stoppages with passengers on board.
The passengers were safe and kept comfortable throughout the time with our crew handing out free drinks. To everyone’s amusement, the crew got out our emergency camping toilet and privacy tent facility normally hidden under the floor (the kid’s potty has been in frequent use since we opened and is in a cupboard if your children get caught short!). Someone has wittily set up a Twitter account for the toilet.
An innovative new ride will have a few teething issues
We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused for all the passengers on-board, for those who had their flights cancelled and that it took so long to resolve. We have rectified the faults, and we are confident they will not occur again. It is to be expected than an innovative new ride will have a few teething issues. We were faced with similar challenges when the London Eye opened 16 years ago. There are undoubtedly some lessons to be learned about how we manage these incidents, including improving our processes to improve the speed of getting the passengers out of the pod and guest communication during an incident.
We have had some lovely messages of support during the past week from our customers. We are back in business and we will look forward to welcoming the next 120,000 passengers on board.
On a happier note, we hosted our first wedding at British Airways i360 – congratulations to the happy couple!
