Dead Sheep
Dead Sheep was written by well-known current affairs broadcaster Jonathan Maitland, so you can rest assured that his script is spot-on. It spans the political relationship between Geoffrey Howe (Paul Bradley) and Margaret Thatcher (Steve Nallon) and explores the limits of loyalty, which is all too rare a commodity in Westminster. Given that the crucial issue that rent them asunder was Europe, watching the play in post-Brexit Britain lends the whole an extra frisson. Steve Nallon’s well-honed turn as Thatcher is a delight particularly in the scenes when she squares up to the other alpha-female Lady Howe (Carol Royale). Withering put-downs are seldom as effective.
