Trainspotting Live
The queue into the King Alfred was put on edge long before it reached the ballroom, with warning notices, booming music, the issue of ear plugs and cans for £3. Good old times. Inside was a gurning club lit by glowsticks and featuring a bed, sofa and toilet, none of which you wanted to get anywhere near. Trainspotting Live is not a funny or charming version: it’s brutal, nihilistic, violent – a tragedy of addiction and pain. Take a ‘Choose Life’ Wham video and inject it in the ***** with King Lear. It was brilliant and awful. Just don’t take your Mum.
