5 There is nothing better than when scary meets funny – which is exactly what happens with Dracula: The Bloody Truth. Described as a gothic madcap mixture of The Play That Goes Wrong and Monty Python, this sees Van Helsing and his three amateur actors try to stage a life-changing theatrical production of Dracula. These things never go smoothly though, especially when it involves a troupe committed to physical comedy and storytelling.
The Old Market, Tues 24 – Sat 28 October, 7pm (Tues to Wed), 7.30pm (Thurs to Sat), 3pm (Sat), from £10

6 MAE_MARTIN_1

6 Nominated for Best Newcomer in this year’s Edinburgh Awards, Mae Martin’s debut UK tour show Dope is her origins story to comedy. She first set foot on stage in her native Canada aged 13, and since then has won awards in Canada, and had her own BBC Radio 4 series looking at the topic of sexuality as she pondered her own stories of attraction. Moving through tales of addiction, drugs, and growing up, with a very able comedic touch.
