Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds
With a strong new album to perform this was a show for fans old and new. The band, including a punchy brass section and a pair of powerful French backing singers, raced through the best of the new songs, mixing glam rock and psychedelia with a big sound barely contained by the vast venue. After a singalong ‘Dream On’ he spoke for the first time to tell people to “shut up and chant my name” in typical Gallagher fashion then continued with half a dozen Oasis classics, ending the night with the anthemic ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’. A singularly charismatic star.
