Andy Garth: Random Items

1 2

Had a great response from last week’s column with regards to our Auction and a very successful sale it was too.

Things that sold well ranged from Hippodrome programmes, maps, and the most random of items like paperweights and tram accident books.

So on the ‘Random’ subject, this week I have included photos of some items that have already been earmarked for our next sale on Tuesday 31 July.

The first picture is a school photo from the late 1920s/early 1930s and on the back it says ‘Varndean?’.

I think they were originally based at York Place in Brighton… but the photo was taken in a large garden or play area

I think they were originally based at York Place in Brighton… but the photo was taken in a large garden or play area on the corner of Pevensey Road and Fairlight Place. In the second photo I have tried to enlarge the road sign in the corner, which is attached to Fairlight School in Fairlight Place (anyone with any more info, I would love to hear from you).

The next picture is a part-used pack of tickets for the West Pier Concert Hall in the early to mid 1960s for the ‘Olde Tyme’ Musical, with a table seat costing 6/6 (32 and a half pence in new money). Bargain!

The last item shown is a scale model of the old Hove Railway Signal Box. Don’t ask how, what or where as I don’t know but I think you will all agree – how very random!

If you think you have any random items on Brighton and Hove for the next Auction or the shop email me Brightonandhovestuff@gmail.com
