Fleabag
Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s critical and commercial hit, this darkly comic tale of one woman’s chaotic stumble through life, love (well, sex), grief and guilt, made its way to Hove in its lauded new touring production incarnation. The immediately likeable Maddie Rice took the role of our narrator as this one-woman odyssey from one calamity to another unfolded in all of its trademark gutter-mouthed glory. Rice proved to be perfectly cast – her deeply engaging take on Waller-Bridge’s often hilariously honest and brutally deadpan script regarding dysfunctional family, feminism and guinea pigs wrung every bit of pathos from a fatally flawed, entirely human character.
