Jane McDonald

Jane McDonald is pretty much unique on today’s entertainment scene – part singer, part comedienne and part best mate.

All three of the above were in abundance at the Theatre Royal where almost a thousand devoted fans sang, danced, cheered and cried along with Wakefield’s finest.

She’s come a long way since BBC’s The Cruise in 1998.  Everything about this show is polished, from the sequins adorning almost everything on stage, to the terrific band and backing singers and the carefully considered set-list of pop medleys and fan-favourite ballads.

She is clearly at ease on the stage, warm, funny and extremely grateful for the unwavering support of her dedicated fans, and there are a lot of them.

She knows what works and doesn’t mess around. Each song is exquisitely performed, bringing the audience to their feet before sending them home with a feeling of euphoria that even the weather could not diminish.
