Andy Garth: Books and The Tigers

First of all, thanks for all the messages of support I have received since last week’s announcement of my shop closure. I’m very positive about the online stuff and hope to still be able to provide a service to all you Brighton & Hove History Geeks!

This week I’ve included pictures of three lots from mine and Robert Jeeves’ next Auction It’s to be held at Aldrington Church Hall Glebe Villas Hove on Tuesday 25 September, starting at 8pm with viewing from 6.30pm, although all lots can be viewed in the weeks before at Robert’s shop – Step Back in Time at 36 Queens Road, Brighton.

The three example lots shown include a quite rare 1864 street directory, which will have a guide price of £100. It gives some great info about the people and trades that were around at this time.

The next item is also quite rare as it is the menu card for what was the last Annual Dinner of the supporters club of the Brighton Tigers Hockey team, as it was the last season they played in Brighton. The menu is signed by the players and others on the back, and it has a guide price of £25.

The last item is a great book on the cinemas of Brighton and Hove. The reason I have included a book is that two old secondhand book shops in Brighton have, like me, also closed recently and we have quite a lot of old books in the sale. So don’t miss out.
